A stout finished single malt English whisky. Necessary Evil is a Derbyshire-crafted imperial stout, in this case aged in oak PX hogsheads (at an ABV of 13%) at Thornbridge Brewery. Wire Works Whisky Necessary Evil Finish is a proper Derbyshire collaboration.
The spirit is first mature in fresh, first fill ex-Bourbon barrels for a minimum of 3 years before disgorging the whisky and then refilling the stout seasoned oak barrels from Thornbridge (in which the whisky is finished for several months). This bottling therefore spends time in ex-Bourbon and ex-PX oak barrels with flavour and aroma influence from the local stout.
This whisky won a Gold Medal in the 2022 World Whisky Masters.
