Often described as honey wine or mead wine, mead is enjoying a well-deserved revival after centuries of history. From the Tudors and Vikings to the Romans, this ancient drink has been enjoyed across cultures, making it one of the earliest known alcoholic beverages.
From day one of opening our shop in Castleton we were getting asked for mead - something we hadn’t previously explored much as a beer, wine and spirit merchant, but then we thought, why ever not? Today, British mead and English mead are back in fashion, with standout bottles from Lyme Bay, Apothecary Mead and Lancashire Mead in stock in our shop and online.
