This American style Barleywine belongs to Torrside’s ‘Monsters’ range of strong ‘partigyle’ beers, meaning a group of beers all derived from a single mash, each then treated differently to imbue them with distinct characters. Whereas English Barleywines traditionally focus on the malt character, American Barleywines tend to highlight bitter hoppiness. This particular ‘monster’ has been aged in a whisky barrel from a coastal Highland distillery, which previously contained sherry.
