Pormenor Douro Tinto Field Blend 12.5% 75cl
Grape Varieties Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Others
The Pormenor Tinto is described as an 'everyday' red by Pedro, but the work and effort that goes into making the wine would suggest otherwise!
The wine is comprised of 2 parcels of grapes from near São João de Pesqueira, in the Southern Cima Corgo. They are in an unusal, high-altitude and North-West-facing area. This means that they retain a lot of acidity in what may otherwise be quite a hot location. Further to this, Pedro harvests the grapes early, to ensure freshness. The two parcels are vinified seperately and then blended together, before a short ageing, to find the desired balance between the two. In some vintages, a proportion of whole-bunches is also used in the fermentations.
A very drinkable red wine, that belies all the above skill and understanding that goes into it's making. Wonderful, vibrant red fruit is perfectly ripe, with just the right extraction to add mouthfilling texture and tannic grip. It's all kept very fresh with great minerality, natutral acidity, and a little note of herbaceous leafiness. Very moreish.
