Drop Works 'Distillers Drop' Bordeaux Red Wine Cask 70cl

Distiller’s Drop is a series of limited-edition, truly small batch barrel-matured rums chosen by Drop Works founder and Master Distiller, Lewis Hayes. Each one is a unique example from the barrel store, showcasing the flavour possibilities of British-made rum and thoughtful cask experimentation.

Distiller’s Drop #002 was distilled in copper and matured for 28 months in Bordeaux red wine casks from the Fronsac region of France, which previously held Merlot wine for five years. The wine-seasoned oak brings a vibrant new dimension to rum, adding depth of colour and layers of flavour.

Expect bright notes of wild strawberries and stewed plums, a crackle of black pepper, and warming spice, balanced with the caramelised snap of crème brûlée. The result is a bold yet beautifully balanced rum that showcases just how exciting cask maturation can be.

Entered blind into The Spirits Business Rum & Cachaça Masters, it went up against rums from across the globe and came back with a Gold medal from some of the most renowned industry judges.
