Benegas-Lynch Meritage 14.5% 75cl

This is one of the very few super-premium Mendoza blends which does not rely on Malbec as a component; it is a winning formula of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc (Benegas have some of the best in Argentina), Merlot and Petit Verdot. The wine is matured for 18 months in new French oak, with a further 12 months in bottle prior to release. This is a true classic wine of Mendoza, incredibly intense in every respect and just the thing for those seeking a proper ding-dong on the palate.

In the glass, expect a clean and brilliant, intense dark red with brick red hues. The complexity of varietal composition exhibits aromas of red and black fruit, spice such as white pepper, clove and cardamom. Herbal notes of eucalyptus, thyme and rosemary come through. The wood ageing renders cocoa and vanilla notes.

On the tongue, it has a strong presence up front, and reaches maximum volume in the mid-palate, showing round tanins. A long and lingering finish with delicate herbaceous notes. 

Suggested food pairings are slow-cooked meals, red meat and game, due to its heavy tannins. 

Serve 15-17C, using a decanter.
